Our Camellia Cushions are elegant and timless in design. They are hand embroidered for Chandni Chowk in Kashmir.  The cushions can be teamed up with our co-ordinating Camellia Curtains, or mixed and matched with our furnishing collection to give a eclectic style to your home or garden. These beautiful cushions are also wonderful to give as an ethical, and truly unique, gift.

Dry clean only.

Please note that all our products are hand made to varying degrees, and slight variations in size and shape are to be expected. Whilst reasonable care is taken during manufacturing some colours may vary from batch to batch. The stability and permanence of dyes cannot be guaranteed. All fabrics will change colour over time in direct light. Strong coloured items should be washed separately, and may require 3 or more washes to remove excess dye stuff.

  • The Chandni Chowk Crewel work collection is hand made to a very high standard in Kashmir.

Crewel stitch work is 100% Wool stitched onto a 100% Cotton base fabric using a variety of different embroidery stitches including Chain Stitch and Crewel Embroidery Stitches. The embroidery is done using a crochet hook called an 'Aari' and the stitch work follows a design outline applied to the fabric. It requires the use of an embroidery hoop or frame on which the material is stretched taut and secured prior to stitching ensuring an even amount of tension in the stitches, so that designs do not become distorted.
The technique is at least a thousand years old and is the style used for the Bayeux Tapestry and many Jacobean embroidery works. Hand embroidery work, including Crewel Work is one of the most celebrated traditional artisan skills in the Kashmir region.
